Tips To Keep Your Auto Running Great This Winter

Atlanta might not get the many feet of the snow like the cold, frigid northern states, but that doesn’t mean that the temperatures don’t dip during the winter months. These changes in the weather might not seem like a big deal, but they can still adverse effects on your vehicle. You don’t want one thing to go wrong with your car or truck, because that can cause a domino effect and what once was a well-oiled machine is now barely able to start.

Even if you are not a resident of the Atlanta area, here are some tips in order to keep your automobile running in peak condition even in the winter months.

Tune-Up – If you haven’t had a tune-up in the past two to five years, schedule one as soon as possible. With a tune-up you’ll want to get an oil change, fluids topped off, spark plugs changed, fuel filter changed, see if they are any worn belts and if you have an older car checking the distributor cap and rotor. On a manual car, adjusting or replacing the clutch.

AntiFreeze – If you haven’t had a coolant flush in the last two years, than this is the most opportune time to do so. The anti-freeze’s obvious properties make it a necessity to have for operation and the starting of your vehicle.

Battery – As we discussed in the earlier blog “Cold Weather And Car Battery Replacement”, having a working battery in the winter is imperative. Check out that blog for more information.

Winter Tires – Same thing with the battery, “Having Tires In Working Winter Condition”, read up to see why you want solid tires for the cold months, and if where you live does get a lot of snow, buy some winter tires and have them installed onto your car pronto.
